9 Websites to Help You Find a Job

Many of my friends and former colleagues are looking for work, due to the recent layoffs at numerous tech companies. Given that I have spent a lot of time looking for consulting engagements, I thought I'd summarize great websites that can help with a job search. So I'm here to help ya out.
Hunter.io - This site helps you find the professional email address of nearly anyone, which is ideal for networking. It's a awesome tool, especially when LinkedIn profile pages often mask a user's email address (grr).
JobScan - Upload a copy of your resume and match it to any job description to see how well you are a fit. Plus, see the keyword frequency of key terms throughout your resume, get a readability score, and tips to improve your resume.
Your college alumni career page - If you haven't checked lately, look at your college (or graduate school's) alumni career page. Many will offer webinars, networking tips, group job search sessions, and even 1:1 personal career counseling. Plus, don't forget to use the alumni directory to find your old college pals and hit them up for a job.
Indeed's Layoff Resources Site - Indeed is a fantastic site for a job search, in general. But they've taken it one step farther by creating a mini-site related to layoffs, how to recover, plus tips for interviewing, resume writing, and jumping back into a job hunt.
NovoResume - This site has both free and premium templates for resumes/CVs. You're sure to find one that fits your style, if you're in the market for a resume refresh.
MAPP Career Assessment - Take a free test to map your own personal traits to the best career and job for you. We all need a self-assessment now and then!
Optimize your resume for ATS software - Read this helpful blog post on how to design your resume for computerized resume scanners, also know as applicant tracking systems (ATS). Remember that the first pass on resume submissions is often done by artificial intelligence, not by a human!
Glassdoor - This is a employees-tell-all website, where you can find the real scoop on what it's like to work somewhere. Employees rate their company and even their CEO, plus share salary levels, so you can find out which companies are legit in how they treat their staff.
LinkedIn - Well... if you have a beating heart, then you ought to have a profile on LinkedIn. Connect with every human you know, make lots of posts, comment on others' posts, and ask for recommendations from your happy co-workers. This site is the ultimate networking and job search tool.
Best of luck to you, Job Searchers!
